1.1 HostJane, Inc. (“We,” “Us”, "Our", or “HostJane”) is an infrastructure provider of marketplace and hosting services, helping small businesses and individuals to do better work with third-party freelancers, establish and build their web presence, get found in online search, and attract and retain more customers than their competition.
1.2 We care about protecting the personal information of Our customers and visitors who use Our websites, products or services (collectively, Our “Users”). This privacy notice provides details about how Your personal information is collected, shared and used by Us.

1.4 For the purposes of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, or GDPR, HostJane, Inc, is the data controller when You use a product or Service authored by Us. This does not apply to third-party services provided by Our Users.
2. INFORMATION COVERED BY THIS PRIVACY NOTICE
2.1 This privacy policy covers personal information, including any information We collect, use and share from You, as described further below. This privacy notice applies to all Our websites, Our products and Services, and Our mobile applications (collectively, the “Services”).
2.2 This privacy notice does not cover how Our Users may use or share data that they collect using Our Services. When You purchase a Service, Your personal information will be collected, used, and shared consistent with the provisions of this privacy policy.
3. INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM YOU
In the course of Your use of the Services, We obtain the following information about You as described below. We collect this data for the purposes described under “How We Use Your Information”.
3.1 NO HOLDING OR STORAGE OF PAYMENT SOURCES
3.1.1 INBOUND PAYMENTS
- HostJane does NOT collect or hold any payment source from You directly, neither do we store any payment method nor Your credit card information.
- All payments are securely handled by Amazon Pay or PayPal in our marketplace business, and separately, Stripe in our hosting business. Please consult with those third-parties for how they handle Your data.
3.1.2 DOMESTIC AND CROSS BORDER PAYOUTS
- HostJane does NOT store or hold Your banking information. Instead, we offer a range of third-party payout providers through which Users can receive payouts or funds in U.S. dollars acquired through the Site.
- Login to Your HostJane account and navigate to Settings > Payouts for an up-to-date list of current Payout Providers available.
- Please note Payout Providers may vary depending on where You are geographically accessing HostJane from.
3.2 SENSITIVE IDENTITY INFORMATION
Where appropriate, we may ask You for an image of Your government-issued ID (in accordance with applicable laws) or other verification information, and/or a selfie when we verify Your ID.
Depending on where You live, we accept the following types of IDs during verification:
- National identity card
- Driver license
- Passport
3.2.1 Sensitive data processing
If any copy of Your ID is provided to HostJane, it will be stored on encrypted, secure AWS servers located inside the United States and used only:
- To obtain information from Your ID necessary to perform services reasonably expected by the User (particularly with respect to tax reporting)
- To obtain information reasonably necessary and proportionate to help ensure security and integrity including resisting malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal actions
- To obtain information necessary to verify customer information; or
- To obtain information necessary to verify or maintain the quality or safety of the service
You may exercise Your right to opt-out or limit the use of sensitive data processing in applicable jurisdictions by sending us an email.
3.2.2 Country/region-specific guidelines for IDs
For most countries and regions, You should provide a standard, unedited photograph of Your ID. However, there are additional guidelines if You live in Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore or South Korea.
- The Netherlands: Hide Your 9-digit BSN (burgerservicenummer) and QR code. You may also apply a watermark to Your ID, such as ‘Copy’ or ‘Kopie’; however, please ensure the watermark does not cover other information.
- Germany: Hide the 9-digit document number (Serienummer) and the 6-digit card access number (Zugangsnummer) on Your national identity card, passport or residence card. You may also apply a watermark to Your ID, such as ‘Copy’ or ‘Kopie’; however, please ensure the watermark does not cover other information.
- Singapore: On Singapore identity documents specifically, Singapore Driver licenses, hide the License Number located at the top of the card, and on the back, hide the barcode and License Number located at the bottom of the card. On Singapore Passports, back and front, hide the Passport Number and NRIC Number located in the passport details page. On Singapore National Registration Identity Cards (NRIC), back and front, hide the NRIC number located at the top of the card, any barcodes, and the NRIC number located in the lion head emblem at the bottom right of the card.
- Hong Kong: Hide the HKID which is the 7- or 8- digit number at usually the bottom right hand corner if the ID, and depending on the date of issue before or after 24 Nov 2018, may be also present as a laser image or in the see-through window at the top.
- India: Hide Your Aadhaar or Your UIDAI ID card or number when verifying Your identity.
- Indonesia: Hide the 16-digit ID number on Your National Identity Card (Kartu Tanda Penduduk/KTP) located in the front top left corner, and on Indonesian passports, hide the 8-digit passport ID in the top right corner of the Identity Information page.
- Japan: On Japan Identity cards, hide the 12 digits of "My Number" on the back of Your card—located under the magnetic strip.
- South Korea: On South Korea identity documents, specifically South Korea Identity cards, passports and driver licenses, hide the last 7 digits of the 13-digit Resident Registration Number (RRN) if it is present. On South Korea passports issued after January 2021, the 7-digit Resident Registration Number (RRN often marked as "Personal No.") is usually not present.
3.3 INFORMATION YOU VOLUNTARILY PROVIDE TO US
HostJane collects the following information from You when You provide it to Us:
- Information that You provide prior to or during any registration process (including marketplace or web hosting support), or in connection with a co-branded offer, such as Your name, company name, email address, Telegram or Facebook Messenger username, phone number, geographic location and industry;
- Information You provide, when You chat or email Us (for support or otherwise) or when You use Our products or Services
3.4 INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOUR USAGE AND DEVICES
We collect data relating to Your online activity on Our websites, including the following:
- IP address;
- Browser type and version;
- Type of device You use, operating system version, and device identifier;
- Geographic location;
- Pages You view;
- How You got to Our Services and any links You click on to leave Our Services;
- When You update Your information, communicate with Us, or order new Services;
- Metadata about Your use of Our Services and emails We send to You (including clicks and opens);
- Metadata about how Your customers, contacts, and users interact with the Services We provide You;
- Your interactions with any videos We offer;
- Issues You encounter requiring Our support or assistance; and
- Any device or other method of communication You use to interact with the Services.
We store the data We collect in a variety of places within Our infrastructure, including system log files, back end databases and analytics systems.
3.5 INFORMATION WE ACQUIRE FROM SOCIAL MEDIA
We collect information from third party social networking sites, including information that they provide to Us if You use Your credentials at such social networking sites to log into some of Our Services (such as Your name and email address to pre-populate Our sign-up form). The information You allow Us to access varies by social networking site, and depends on the level of privacy settings You have in place at the social networking site. You can control and find out more about these privacy settings at the applicable social networking site.
3.6 INFORMATION WE AQUIRE FROM OTHER SOURCES
We also collect the following information from other sources:
- Information You provide to Us at seminars or to Our partners;
- Information You provide to Us in surveys;
- Information that is publicly available; and
- Information You consent to Us receiving from third parties.
We also collect information that You may provide during Your support conversations with HostJane staff, which We may monitor or record. We may combine any information We collect about You with other information We have about You to help Us update, expand and analyze Our records, identify new customers, and provide products and Services that may be of interest to You. If You provide Us personal information about others, or if others give Us Your information, We will only use that information for the specific reason for which it was provided to Us.
4. No email marketing except system and alert emails
- HostJane does not engage in email marketing. If You have received a marketing or promotional communication purporting to be from HostJane, please disregard or delete it.
- If You have subscribed in a HostJane marketplace category to an alert for new services, You can change Your alert preferences at any time by either clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the alert email.
- You are not able to unsubscribe from non‑promotional communications that we need to be able to send You. If You wish to stop receiving non‑promotional communications You will need to terminate Your HostJane account by following the steps below in 6.1 for how to delete Your account.
4.1.1 Limited data sharing with third parties
We do not collect any personal financial, payment source, or banking information from You.
The minimal non-personal information we collect about You to provide the Service, will be used for the following purposes:
- To provide the requested Services to You;
- To provide You with useful content;
- To ensure the proper functioning of Our Services
- To offer and improve Our Services;
- To provide You with requested information or technical support
- To facilitate Your movement through Our websites or Your use of Our Services;
- To do a better job of advertising and marketing Our Services (subject to Your consent where required by applicable law);
- To advertise and market third party products and services (subject to Your consent where required by applicable law)
- To diagnose problems with Our servers or Our Services;
- In connection with Our security and compliance programs;
- To administer Our websites;
- To communicate with You;
- To target prospective customers with Our products or Services (subject to Your consent where required by applicable law);
- To assist Us in offering You a personalized experience or otherwise tailor Our Services to You; and
- As otherwise described in this privacy notice.
We also use the information We receive to produce reports on trends and statistics, such as mobile search trends, email open rates by industry, campaign best practices or the number of users that have been exposed to, or clicked on, Our websites or evaluated or purchased Our products or services.
5. NO SELLING OF INFORMATION AND LIMITED SHARING
- We do NOT collect financial or payment source information.
- We do NOT share identity information unless legally compelled to.
- HostJane expressly does NOT sell any of the limited information we hold about You to any third party.
5.1 POLICE OR PAYMENT PROVIDER INVESTIGATIONS
Identity documents are held on encrypyed servers and used only to verify or authenticate information provided by You, or in response to Authorities or financial provider requests for information.
5.2 SHARING WITH THIRD PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS AND VENDORS
We don't collect any payment information from You. Any Personal Information is held strictly private and confidential, on encrypted and secure AWS servers and handled only as provided below:
5.2.1 SELLERS DO NOT RECEIVE PERSONAL INFORMATON
If You purchase a product or service from a third party through HostJane, We will keep Your personal information including Your name and email private, and pass on as limited amount as is practical of Your information to such third parties to fulfill Your order. For example, We may share non-personal information with Your Seller, such as Your Job title and Jib Requirements, necessary for the Seller to fulfill Your Order.
5.2.2 ANONYMOUS LIVING COST DONATIONS
If You check the anonymous button to anonymously donate funds towards a User's living costs as described in the Marketplace Rules as a Random Act of Kindness defined in 1.29 as a charitable good deed, we will not disclose any information regarding Your donation to the donation recipient or any third-party except in response to a Police or Payment Provider Information.
5.2.3 CONTRACTS TO PROVIDE OUR SERVICE
HostJane may enter into contracts with carefully selected third parties to assist Us in servicing You (for example, providing You with customer service, fraud detection and deterrence or access to advertising assets and providing Us with information technology and storage services) or to assist Us in Our own marketing and advertising activities (including providing Us with analytic information and search engine optimization services). Our contracts with such third parties prohibit them from using any of Your personal information for any purpose beyond the purpose for which it was shared.
5.3 CORPORATE REORGANIZATIONS
If We are involved in a merger, acquisition, a sale of all or a substantial portion of Our assets, or other similar sale transaction, Your information will be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify You by email and/or a prominent notice on Our website of any such transfer and any choices You may have regarding Your information.
5.4 AUTHORIZED USERS
All users authorized by You to have access to Your account can view personal information stored in the account. A primary account holder can view personal information saved in subaccounts to which they have authorized access. We share information about authorized users only for legitimate purposes consistent with this privacy policy, including servicing Your account and marketing products and Services to You.
5.5 LEGAL PROCESS
If legally required to do so, or if We have a good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary, We may disclose Your personal information to courts of law, public authorities (including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements), and other relevant third parties, such as internet service providers, to conduct an investigation, respond to a third party or law enforcement subpoena or court order, to bring legal action, prevent harm to others or pursue other relief when You or a third party are or may be:
- Violating Our terms and conditions of use;
- Causing injury or other harm to, or otherwise violating the property or other legal rights, of Us, other users, or third parties; or
- Violating federal, state, local, or other applicable law.
This disclosure can include transferring Your information to the U.S. and other countries outside the European Economic Area. To the extent We are legally permitted to do so, We will notify You in the event that We are required to provide Your personal information to third parties in connection with a subpoena.
6. ACCOUNT TERMINATION AND ERASURE
Please note that if You request deletion of Your personal information, or if Your account is suspended, terminated, or voluntarily closed, the following information applies.
6.1 HOW TO CLOSE Your ACCOUNT
You can delete Your account and its data by going to Account Settings and selecting Close Account.
This will destroy Your account which cannot be recovered at a later date.
Your account will be scheduled for deletion for 30 days from the date You submit Account Closure request.
- You'll lose all the data and content in that account, like emails, files, listings and orders.
- You will still receive any money owed to You as per Marketplace Rules and waiting period.
- If You have any outstanding orders, sales or funds processing, You won't be able to delete Your account until those are completed.
- You can login and restore account until 30 days from the date You submit Account Closure request.
6.1.2 Police and Payment Provider Investigations
In the event of a request from Authorities or Payment Providers during the 30-day deletion period, we may pass information for legal process investigation including combatting money laundering, fraud detection and prevention, and enhancing safety.
After the 30-day waiting period, with the exception of HostJane accounts suspended for fraud or safety reasons to prevent a banned User from re-opening a new HostJane Account in the future, to protect Our community, we will generally retain no record or information related to You of any kind.
6.1.3 Legal, Tax, Reporting, and Auditing Obligations
Any non-personal information related to You to the extent necessary to comply with Our legal, tax, reporting, and auditing obligations, is collected during or prior to the 30-day deletion period, for example, the dollar amount of Your Sales necessary to use in our own tax filings.
6.2 Data access
You can always review information within Your HostJane account dashboard, orders, messaging including files, and settings areas.
Obtaining a copy the account data HostJane holds about You
For active accounts, or accounts within the 30-day deletion period, We do not hold any information on You outside of what You can view within the account dashboard, orders, messaging including files, and settings areas.
6.3 Data portability
In certain jurisdictions, the applicable law may allow You to receive a copy of the personal information You have provided to HostJane.
You can receive a complete copy of any and all held information related to You, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, by logging into Your account and saving or downloading the information within the viewable areas of Your account dashboard, orders, messaging including files, and settings areas.
We do not hold any information related to You outside of these viewable areas inside Your logged-in account.
7. TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES AND ONLINE ADVERTISING
We use cookies, web beacons, pixels, tags, scripts and other similar technologies in the course of Our business. Information about the technologies We use, why We use them (for example, in connection with online advertising), and how You can control them can be found in Our Cookie Notice available at: https://www.hostjane.com/legal/cookie-policy/
8. CHOICE/OPT-OUT OF MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS FROM US
8.1 EMAIL
You always have the opportunity to opt out of Our marketing communications with You or change Your preferences by following a link in the footer of all non-transactional email messages from Us or by contacting Us at the bottom of this page. Some communications from Us are considered transactional or Service communications (for example, important account notifications and billing information). You agree to receive these transactional and Service communications as a condition of the Services that We provide to You. You must cancel Your accounts for all Services, if You do not wish to receive any transactional or Service communications from Us. To cancel Your account, please follow the instructions found in the terms of Service for the applicable Service. You may still receive marketing communications from Us even after You cancel Your account unless You also opt-out of Our marketing communications, as described above.

8.3 INFORMATION FROM THIRD PARTIES
To manage the information We receive about You from a social networking site or other third party (if applicable), You will need to follow the instructions from that party for updating Your information and changing Your privacy settings, where available. The information We collect is covered by this privacy notice and the information the third party collects is subject to such third party’s privacy practices. Privacy choices You have made on any third party site will not apply to Our use of the information We have collected directly through Our Services.
8.4 UNAUTHORIZED ACCOUNTS
If an account or profile was created without Your knowledge or authorization, please contact customer support on which the account or profile is located to request removal of the account or profile.
9. SECURITY DISCLAIMER
The transmission of information via the internet, email or text message is not completely secure.
Although We will do Our best to protect Your personal information, no provider can 100% guarantee the security of any information transmitted through any Service or over email; any transmission is at Your own risk.
Once HostJane has received Your information, We will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard Your personal information against loss, theft and unauthorized use, access or modification, for example, through the use of SSL encryption such as the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol.
10. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR INFORMATION
Depending on what information We collect from You and how We collect it, We rely on various grounds for processing Your information under the GDPR, including the following:
- In order to administer Our contractual relationship, including setting up Your requested Services, payments, renewals and processes;
- Because it is in Our legitimate interest to run a successful and efficient business and provide You with the Services and other useful content;
- In order to fulfill any legal obligations We may have to collect this information from You; and/or
- Because You have provided Your consent for Us to do so.
11. YOUR RIGHTS
Where the GDPR applies, in certain circumstances and subject to data processing agreements, You have rights in relation to the personal information We hold about You. We set out below an outline of those rights and how to exercise those rights. Please note that We will require You to verify Your identity before responding to any requests to exercise Your rights by providing details only known to the account holder. To exercise any of Your rights, please contact Us at the bottom of this page. We will respond to Your request within a reasonable timeframe. Please note that for each of the rights below We may have valid legal reasons to refuse Your request, in such instances We will let You know if that is the case. Please note that if We have obtained or received personal information about You from a third party for the purpose of processing that data, any requests to exercise Your rights with respect to that data should be directed to that third party.
We will honor and support any instructions they provide Us with respect to Your personal information.
11.1 ACCESS
You have the right to know whether We process personal information about You, and if We do, to access data We hold about You and certain information about how We use it and who We share it with.
11.2 PORTABILITY
You have the right to receive a subset of the personal information You provide Us if We process it on the legal bases of Our contract with You or with Your consent in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and a right to request that We transfer such personal information to another party. If You wish for Us to transfer the personal information to another party, please ensure You detail that party and note that We can only do so where it is technically feasible. We are not responsible for the security of the personal information or its processing once received by the third party.
11.3 CORRECTION
You have the right to require Us to correct any personal information held about You that is inaccurate and have incomplete data completed. Where You request correction, please explain in detail why You believe the personal information We hold about You to be inaccurate or incomplete so that We can assess whether a correction is required. Please note that while We assess whether the personal information We hold about You is inaccurate or incomplete, You may exercise Your right to restrict Our processing of the applicable data as described below.
11.4 RESTRICTION OF PROCESSING TO STORAGE ONLY
You have a right to require Us to stop processing the personal information We hold about You other than for storage purposes in the following circumstances:
- You believe the personal information is not accurate for the period it takes for Us to verify whether the data is accurate;
- We wish to erase the personal information as the processing We are doing is unlawful but You want Us to simply restrict the use of that data;
- We no longer need the personal information for the purposes of the processing but You require Us to retain the data for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims; or
- You have objected to Us processing personal information We hold about You on the basis of Our legitimate interest and You wish Us to stop processing the personal information while We determine whether there is an overriding interest in Us retaining such personal information.
11.5 OBJECTION
You have the right to object to Our processing of data about You and We will consider Your request. Please provide Us with detail as to Your reasoning so that We can assess whether there is a compelling overriding interest in Us continuing to process such data or We need to process it in relation to legal claims. You also have the right, at any time, to object to Our processing of data about You in order to send You marketing, including where We build profiles for such purposes and We will stop processing the data for that purpose.
11.6 WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT
Where You have provided Your consent to Us processing Your personal data, You can withdraw Your consent at any time by contacting Us at the bottom of this page.
11.7 TEXT MESSAGE COMMUNICATIONS
We use text messaging to communicate with You about Our service. Normal messaging rates apply and the frequency of messages may vary. Mobile Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
11.8 OPT-OUT OF TEXT MESSAGE COMMUNICATIONS
You may opt out of text messaging at any time by replying to any message with STOP or contacting us at support@hostjane.com.
This will end the communications from that particular phone number. You may continue to receive service-related and other non-marketing text messages from other phone numbers managed by HostJane, and You may opt out of those with a similar easy opt-out mechanism.
12. THIRD PARTY LINKS AND INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE BY OUR USERS
Some of Our Services provide links to other websites. Because We do not control the information policies or practices of these third party sites, You should review their privacy policies to learn about how they collect and use personal information. You may also log in to some of Our Services using sign-in services such as Facebook Connect or an Open ID provider. These services will authenticate Your identity and provide You with the option to share certain personal information with Us, such as Your name and email address to pre-populate Our sign up form. For example, if You take advantage of certain of Our social media features, such as the Facebook Like button, and widgets, such as the “Share This” button or interactive mini-programs that run on Our Site, the applicable social networking sites may collect Your IP address, which page You are visiting on Our websites, and may set a cookie to enable it to function properly.
13. CHILDREN
Our Services are not directed to persons under 18 or anyone not legally an adult in their legal jurisdiction. HostJane does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If You are a parent or guardian of such a child and become aware that Your child has provided personal information to Us, please contact Us at the bottom of this page and We will take reasonable steps immediately to remove any such information.
14. DATA TRANSFER
In order for Us to provide the Services to You, Your personal information will be transferred to, and stored at/processed in the United States. Your personal data may also be processed by staff operating outside the European Economic Area (EEA), such as Australia, who work for Us or for one of Our suppliers. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Your personal data is treated securely and in accordance with this policy.
15. NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES
We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. If We decide to change this privacy notice in any material way, We will notify You here, by email, or by means of a notice on www.HostJane.com or the website of the HostJane product or Service You use prior to the change becoming effective. In all cases, Your continued use of any Services constitutes acceptance to any such changes.
